New Austin Target store will be opening this year near the University of Texas campus. The students around are excited about this news as they will no longer have to go to further stores to shop for dorm-room supplies. Target, the retail giant, will be opening a 22,000 square-foot store in Dobie Twenty21 which is formerly Dobie Mall at West 21st Street and Guadalupe street.
The Dobie building, which the new Austin Target store will be located is now undergoing a lot of renovations and a huge part of this will be for the said new store.
The said new Austin Target store is expected to open by September 2017. Aside from this, Target is also planning to open stores near the University of North Carolina, the University of Southern California and the University of Florida.
“Growth on college campuses and in urban markets is a priority for Target. We’re able to serve more guests by adding flexible-format stores near top universities across the country, including the quick-trip shopping experience we’ll bring to the University of Texas campus in July 2017.”—
“We’re thrilled to open our first flexible-format store in Austin and to join the Longhorn community.” -Mark Schindele – Senior Vice President of Properties for Target
